COMMUNITY INPUT
At the Fauquier Agri-Solar Alliance, we value your feedback and are dedicated to incorporating your concerns into projects within our community.
We recently polled the community about issues surrounding solar energy. Our goal is to create a model for how solar projects are brought into our county while ensuring that our agricultural heritage is preserved.
Here’s how you responded to the poll, and here’s how the Alameda Solar Project has addressed your concerns:
%
63% said you would support a solar project that preserves agricultural land. The Alameda Solar Project does just that by requiring that all of the land be put into a permanent conservation easement, ensuring that agricultural land is maintained in perpetuity.
%
68% wanted solar farms to incorporate active farming alongside solar panels. The Alameda project includes this innovative approach, combining solar energy production with active farming.
%
56.4% of you preferred solar projects to be built on non-prime farmland. The Alameda Project has addressed this concern by choosing a site that is not located on prime cropland.
%
77.2% of you supported localities making the permitting decisions for solar farms. The Alameda team is collaborating closely with Fauquier County to respect and adhere to local decision-making processes.
%
66.9% of you favored solar farms that place land into a conservation easement after decommissioning rather than developing it into housing. After the Alameda project ends, the land will be placed into a conservation easement and sold to a local Fauquier farmer, ensuring the long-term preservation of our agricultural heritage.
