PRESIDENT, FAUQUIER AGRI-SOLAR ALLIANCE

HARMONIZING

Solar Energy and  Agriculture

About the Alliance

The Fauquier Agri-Solar Alliance was born from a series of meaningful conversations with Fauquier County residents over the past few years. These discussions revealed a strong desire among community members to have a voice in the policy-making process regarding solar installations in our agriculturally rich areas.

In response to this community feedback, Open Road Renewables (the company developing the Alameda Solar project) took the initiative to establish this organization. Our mission is to promote an open dialogue about the potential compatibility of agriculture production and solar energy in Fauquier County.

Our Approach

From the initial landowner conversations to the comments we’ve received at numerous community open houses, to the conversations we’ve had at the County fair, to the feedback provided to the Planning Commission, Fauquier County residents have been at the forefront of the conversation about solar energy in our community. We believe that local voices should shape land use proposals and result in thoughtful local decisions.

Our Commitment

As the proud sponsor of the Fauquier Agri-Solar Alliance, Open Road Renewables is committed to:

1. Welcoming all viewpoints - both positive and negative

2. Working collaboratively with the community to address concerns

3. Finding innovative solutions that provide energy to our community while preserving agricultural land

4. Working with local partners who live in Fauquier County and will directly benefit from thoughtful land use proposals

Our goal is to strike a balance between renewable energy development and the preservation of Fauquier County's rich agricultural heritage. We believe that by working together, we can support economic prosperity and a sustainable future that benefits members of our community.

Join us in shaping the future of solar energy in Fauquier County. Your voice matters, and together, we can find innovative solutions that serve our community's needs.

OUR COMMITMENT

At the Fauquier Agri-Solar Alliance, we are committed to projects that respect and enhance our agricultural traditions.

By requiring that all of the land is put into a permanent conservation easement, the Alameda Solar Project does just that, ensuring that agricultural land is maintained in perpetuity.
